According to the British Journal of Medicine & Medical Research 4(34): 5357-5367, 2014 there is no association with lowered risk for heart attacks. The use of aspirin for "prevention" of heart attacks has been used a long time in the medical community. There are associated risks with taking aspirin for a long time because of its effects on the stomach lining, causing ulcers and bleeding.
On another note of pain medicine usage,.. in my clinic, our focus is on helping people with acute and chronic painful musculo-skeletal conditions. Many patients we see come in with months and even years of taking ibuprofen for their chronic pain. There is more and more research that shows the very harmful effects of ibuprofen on stomach, kidneys and liver.
There are products on the market such as New Chapter's "Zyflammend", or "InflamaSyn" by New Mark, which use herbs and turmeric for pain. If you suffer from pain, consider the use of these safe products.
